What a tight meeting with only 4 points separating first from tenth. It could, however have been more than 12 for the meeting winner, Robbie Cormack, who had 4 fine wins and a fall when challenging for the lead in his fourth ride. Cormack has been excellent in his debut season and will be challenging hard for the overall title. Cormack took the semi-final after a run-off with Giles Hill. Hill had a strong meeting to take a finals spot with ease. Boyd Beaton and Chris Holmes had a run-off for third with Beaton taking the honours. Both riders looked solid and were never really in any danger of not qualifying. Behind them on 10 points were Marcus Jay and Jordan Trott. Jay started with a last place but made some changes to his machine to take a qualifying place. Trott could have been on the podium but for a heat 9 fall when leading. Cameron Monk and Mitchell Spink were the final two qualifiers. Spink was solid throughout with 4 seconds and a third for his 9 points. Monk looked in danger after only having 3 points after 3 rides. He finished with a flourish though with 2 wins, coping with the pressure well to win his last ride to take his place in the finals. That win surprisingly put out South section winner Ashley Wakerley who had to make do with a reserve spot. A third place at least would have put him in a run-off with Monk and Spink but it was not to be as he was left at the back in heat 17 and was unable to make any impression.
