The top 3 sides from each Semi Final progress to the World Pairs Final, along with the highest scoring 4th place side.
WORLD PAIRS SEMI FINAL |
A very close Semi Final with every side in with a chance up until the latter heats was won by Scotland in the end as Bridges and Treadwell were the only pair to both reach double figures. Defending champions Norway joined them in the final with Bergestol and Thoresen clearly keen to retain their title. The final qualifying place went to Poland, for whom both Tercjak and Irzyk had some wobbles but the young pair scored the points when needed to see off Sweden who relied too much on Davidsson for their points. Russia would have hoped to qualify but Gomozov had somewhat of an off-day by his standards and they finished 5th. Italy put up a good fight in a tough Semi and just held off Denmark, for whom Eriksen scored nearly all their points, for 6th place. |

WORLD PAIRS SEMI FINAL |
America impressed with a fine win to lead the qualifier for the World Pairs Final from the second Semi - McChesney being joined by Loucks who rode out of his skin to match his more recognised partner's score. England made hard work of it with Wood misfiring and Reay suffering a knock which, whilst not serious, forced him to withdraw but Adams stepped in and made sure they reached the final. Australia won a run-off for 3rd as Hooper came in to join Scott and the experienced pair did enough in the latter stages to reach the final. Bulgaria were the surprise pair of the meeting but, despite losing the run-off for 3rd, Stoyanov and Dimotrov's total of 19 points means they reach the final as the highest scoring 4th place pairing. The Czech Republic impressed but just missed out with 18 points being good enough for 5th. The other pairs found the meeting hard with Chong and Te-Huna not quite having the experience when it mattered and Slovenia too reliant on the scoring power of Verner. |
